My 10 Favorite Instagram Tools

With approximately 800 million monthly users, Instagram has exploded in the past few years — and it shows no signs of slowing down. There’s no doubt it’s a powerful platform for housewares brands, and lots of fun to use! While Instagram itself has some cool built in functionality (like Stories, image filters, and live video) that you should be using, there are plenty of other tools that can help you up your Insta game. Here are a few of my favorites...

1. Boomerang:

Boomerang is a super easy way to spice things up and breakaway from standard images and videos on Instagram. The app automatically takes 10 photos and stitches them together for a fun looping video tha t looks somewhere between a gif and a stop motio n movie. This is one of the most popular Insta tools out there, and for good reason! This app works well to highlight anything or anyone that moves, so it’s great for showing off your housewares products and team in action.

2.Hyperlapse:

Hyperlapse is another must-have if you’re looking to add a little visual pizzaz to your Instagram account! With built in stabilizers, it’s easy to get a professional-looking timelapse video — even when you’re on the go. The app allows you to speed up your hyperlapse to 12 times the original speed for fast-paced and exciting visuals. You could use this app to make super cool videos when you’re setting up for a tradeshow, going behind the scenes of a product photoshoot, or hosting a fun event.

3. Swipeable:

Panoramic photos are awesome! If you have great panoramic photos of your products on display, Instagram’s square design can limit your ability to share them without cropping. Enter Swipeable! You just have to take a great panorama shot and the app does the rest! It divides your photo into square pieces, making it swipeable using Instagram's built in carousel feature. No more awkward cropping or resizing!

4. Fastory:

If you haven’t already gotten on the Instagram Stories train, it may be time to jump on board. Stories are a great way to connect with followers and foster customer loyalty. In fact, one in five organic stories from businesses gets a direct message from a follower. That’s pretty amazing! Fastory allows you to take Stories from good to great. There are themes for consistent branding, motion and animation capabilities, and an easy-to-use workflow. It’s pretty nifty!

5. Have2Have.It:

Chances are your followers are going to fall in love with one of the great housewares products featured in your Insta posts. Instagram currently doesn’t allow clickable links in the post, which means there’s no easy way for people to click through to purchase. That’s where Have2Have.It comes in handy! When someone click’s the Have2Have.It link in your profile, they’ll go to a page with the same look and feel as your Insta profile. Then when they click on an image, they’ll immediately go to the product page, making it easier to buy. It’s also great for linking to blogs, event registration pages, and additional product details related to your posts.

6. LinkInProfile:

This is another way to overcome the linking issue and keep all your links organized. Since you can’t put links directly in your posts, you can use a LinkInProfile page to add links for each of your Instagram posts. The links can drive viewers to landing pages, blogs, product pages, and more. You’ll never have to change that bio link, you can add or update links as needed, and it’s easy for followers to find links that go with older posts too.

7. Grid Maker

One of the things that makes Instagram so unique when compared to other social platforms is the grid layout. Some users have caught on to this fact and started using the grid design to tell their brand’s story. By chopping up your photos, they may look unrecognizable on their own, but take a step back and look at your profile as a whole and it all comes together! Utilizing an app like Grid Maker can make it easy to separate your photos and turn your profile into a giant montage. Posting an image piece by piece is a great way to tease followers about your exciting new products, create buzz, and foster online engagement.

8. Regram:

Unlike other social platforms, Instagram doesn’t have a built in ability to share posts from others -- at least not yet. That’s where apps like Regram come to the rescue. Regram makes it easy to share user-generated content from customers, influencers, and employees with a few easy clicks. It even keeps the caption and tags the original poster. Just be sure you get permission to share other people’s posts to avoid any misunderstandings or copyright issues.

9. Tagwin.Me:

Who doesn’t love winning free stuff? Instagram contests can be a great way to gain followers, foster brand awareness, and increase revenue for your housewares company. Monitoring those contests, however, isn’t always easy. Tagwin.Me makes it easy to track entries, comments, and followers to help you find your contest winner! So go ahead and do that giveaway; just be sure you wish your followers good luck from us!

10. Typito:

If you’ve ever used Canva to edit images and create fun social media posts, then you’ll love Typito. It’s basically Canva for video! It’s super easy to upload and edit your footage for Instagram, including adding social handles, music, text, and more. The best part? You don’t have to be a video expert to use it! It can be an easy way to quickly edit videos of cooking demonstrations, interviews, and other video projects your may be working on.
